Samsung patents method for finding location using UWB signals
Samsung describes a way for a device to figure out its exact position using Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) signals. The device listens to timing signals from several fixed points, called anchors, to calculate where it is standing.
In the filing’s own words
The present disclosure discloses a method for providing a service by using UWB communication. A method for a UWB device may comprise the steps of: receiving, from an initiator anchor, a first UWB message initiating a ranging procedure; receiving, from a plurality of responder anchors, a plurality of second UWB messages transmitted in response to the first UWB message; receiving, from the initiator anchor, a third UWB message transmitted in response to the second UWB messages; and performing DL-TDoA-based localization on the basis of the first UWB message, the second UWB messages, and the third UWB message.
