Samsung has filed a patent for a method that allows home appliances to receive large amounts of data over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Because standard Bluetooth advertising packets have a strict size limit, the system splits a long message into smaller pieces called sub-transmission messages. A method of receiving a message by a home appliance comprising: receiving a Bluetooth low energy (BLE) advertising packet including a message identification (ID), packet index information, and total packet counter information; generating a buffer for a transmission message corresponding to the message ID, the buffer having a storage capacity corresponding to the total packet counter information; receiving a scan response data packet corresponding to the received BLE advertising packet; obtaining, from the scan response data packet, a sub-transmission message generated from the transmission message; storing the sub-transmission message in the buffer; iterating the receiving the BLE advertising packet, the receiving the scan response data packet, and the storing the sub-transmission message obtained from the scan response data packet in the buffer; and outputting the transmission message generated from at least one sub-transmission message stored in the buffer.
