Samsung patents new timing method for ultra-wideband device communication
Samsung has filed a patent for a method that helps ultra-wideband (UWB) devices coordinate their communication schedules. The system uses a control message to tell another device when to switch between different timing slots, or 'rounds,' within a larger time block.
In the filing’s own words
The present disclosure relates to a first ultra-wideband (UWB) device supporting a hyper block including at least one ranging block. A method of a first ultra-wideband (UWB) device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may comprise the steps of generating a control message including an index of a ranging round, an offset of the ranging round, and an index of a hyper block, transmitting the control message to a second UWB device, and performing round hopping between ranging rounds on the basis of the index of the hyper block. Various other embodiments may be included.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method of a first ultra-wideband (UWB) device supporting a hyper block including at least one ranging block, the method comprising: generating a ranging round (RR) IE including an index field of a ranging block, a hopping mode field indicating a hop mode for the ranging block, an index field of a ranging round for the ranging block, and a transmission offset field of the ranging round; and transmitting a control message including the RR IE to a second UWB device, wherein in a hyper block-based mode, the index field of the ranging block indicates an index of a hyper block.
