Samsung patents wireless repeater that adjusts signal timing for different speeds
Samsung has filed a patent for a method to improve how network-controlled repeaters relay signals between cell towers and phones. The system uses specific timing offsets to align the signal relay with different data transmission speeds, ensuring the connection stays stable even when the network switches between fast and slow data channels.
In the filing’s own words
In accordance with an aspect of the disclosure, a method and device for applying an aperiodic access link beam for each different subcarrier spacing (SCS) in a network-controlled repeater (NCR) processing signal relay between a base station and a UE in a wireless communication system is provided, the method performed by a network-controlled repeater (NCR) relaying a signal in a wireless communication system is provided, the method comprises identifying at least one reference slot to which the aperiodic access link beam is applied for each different subcarrier spacing (SCS), and applying the aperiodic access link beam based on the at least one reference slot and a slot offset.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method performed by a network-controlled repeater (NCR) for amplifying and forwarding a signal to a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, from a base station, configuration information including information on time resources associated with an access link between the NCR and the UE, wherein information on at least one time resource among the information on the time resources further includes information on at least one first slot offset for the at least one time resource; transmitting, to the base station, capability information including information indicating a value of a second slot offset for a reference slot; receiving, from the base station, downlink control information (DCI) on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a first slot, the DCI including information on at least one beam and information on the at least one time resource corresponding to the at least one beam; identifying the reference slot associated with the at least one time resource, based on the first slot and the value of the second slot offset; identifying at least one second slot for the at least one time resource, based on the reference slot and the at least one first slot offset, wherein the at least one time resource starts at the at least one second slot that is offset by the at least one first slot offset from the reference slot; and transmitting the signal to the UE by using the at least one beam and the at least one time resource corresponding to the at least one beam.
