Samsung patents new math rules for 5G data decoding
This filing describes a method for mobile devices to interpret data sent by cell towers. It uses specific mathematical tables to determine how much data is packed into each signal and how to correct errors during the download process.
In the filing’s own words
An example method for transmitting control information in a wireless communication system may include designing a CQI table in order to transmit channel state information (CSI); or a method for using the designed CQI table. In addition, the method may comprise: a method for designing a CQI table designed in a situation in which supported services or target BLERs mutually differ; or a method for using the designed CQI table. In addition, the method may comprise a method for determining or configuring a suitable MCS using an adequate MCS table corresponding to the CQI table, or a designed MCS table. In addition, the method may comprise a SINR mapping method and MCS configuration method, based on CQI information reported from a terminal.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including a higher layer parameter associated with a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) table; identifying the MCS table for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) based on the higher layer parameter; receiving, from the base station, the PDSCH; determining a modulation order (Q) and a target code rate (R) corresponding to the PDSCH based on the MCS table; determining a transport block size (TBS) based on the modulation order (Q) and the target code rate (R); determining a lifting size (Z) based the TBS; determining a shift value matrix corresponding to a parity-check matrix based on the lifting size (Z); performing a LDPC-decoding of the PDSCH based on the shift value matrix or the parity-check matrix; wherein the MCS table includes a first set including a first modulation order of 10, a first target code rate of 805.5/1024, a second set including a second modulation order of 10, a second target code rate of 853/1024, a third set including a third modulation order of 10, a third target code rate of 900.5/1024, and a fourth set including a fourth modulation order of 10, a fourth target code rate of 948/1024.
