Google patents method to turn quantum states into useful T states
This filing describes a system for quantum state distillation, a process that takes noisy quantum bits and refines them into specific, high-quality states called T states. It uses a sequence of measurements and corrections on a group of qubits to filter out errors and produce the desired output.
In the filing’s own words
Methods, systems, and apparatus for producing CCZ states and T states. In one aspect, a method for transforming a CCZ state into three T states includes obtaining a first target qubit, a second target qubit and a third target qubit in a CCZ state; performing a X −1/2 gate on the third target qubit; performing an X gate on the first target qubit and the second target qubit using the third target qubit as a control; performing a Z gate on the first target qubit and the second target qubit using the third qubit as a X axis control; performing a Z −1/4 gate on the third target qubit; and performing a Z gate on the first target qubit and the second target qubit using the third qubit as a X axis control to obtain the three T states.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A system for quantum state distillation, the system comprising: an input configured to receive one or more input resource states; a register of qubits comprising target qubits configured to encode a resource state derived from the one or more input resource states, ancilla qubits, and stabilizer qubits; control devices configured to perform a sequence of operations comprising a plurality of measurement operations involving qubits of the register, the plurality of measurement operations including Pauli-product measurement operations; measurement devices configured to generate measurement results during the plurality of measurement operations; one or more classical processors configured to determine Pauli correction operations based on the measurement results, the control devices being configured to apply the Pauli correction operations to the target qubits; and an output configured to provide one or more output resource states encoded by the target qubits after application of the Pauli correction operations, wherein the sequence of operations is arranged into time slices, each time slice corresponding to a respective stage of the sequence, the time slices including measurement time slices and at least one correction time slice, wherein the measurement time slices correspond to measurement operations, including Pauli-product measurement operations, performed on different subsets of the target qubits, ancilla qubits, and stabilizer qubits, and wherein the at least one correction time slice corresponds to application of the Pauli correction operations to the target qubits based on measurement results generated during a plurality of the measurement time slices.
