Samsung patents method to adjust signal timing for energy saving
This filing describes a way for phones to change when they expect to receive data signals from a cell tower. The phone reads specific instructions in the control channel to skip certain signal checks, allowing the network to save power.
In the filing’s own words
Apparatuses and methods for dynamic adaptation of a time domain resource for periodic or semi-persistent downlink signal are provided. A method of operating a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a set of configurations from a higher layer, identifying a first set of configurations from the set of configurations indicating resources for reception of downlink signals, and identifying a second set of configurations from the set of configurations for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) including a downlink control information (DCI) format. The DCI format includes adaptation information. The method further includes receiving the downlink signals based on the first set of configurations, receiving the PDCCH including the DCI format based on the second set of configurations, identifying, based on the adaptation information, a third set of configurations indicating the resources for reception of the downlink signals, and receiving the downlink signals based on the third set of configurations.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, from a base station, configuration information including information on a position of a block in downlink control information (DCI); receiving, from the base station, the DCI including a plurality of blocks including the block, wherein the position of the block in the DCI is identified based on the information on the position and wherein the block includes an indication associated with a cell adaptation for a network energy saving (NES); and identifying, based on the indication, that a periodic channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) and a semi-persistent CSI RS are not to be received in a time duration, wherein a cycle redundancy check (CRC) of the DCI is scrambled by a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) associated with the cell adaptation for the NES.
