Samsung patents method for managing secondary cell states in 5G handovers
Samsung describes a method for a base station to receive measurement reports from a phone about nearby secondary cells. The base station then sends back information indicating whether each of those secondary cells is currently active or inactive.
In the filing’s own words
The present disclosure provides a node and a user equipment in a wireless communication system and methods performed by the same. A method performed by a first node in a wireless communication system provided by embodiments of the present disclosure includes: receiving, from a user equipment (UE), a first L1 measurement report, wherein the first L1 measurement report includes L1 measurement results of one or more candidate secondary cells; and transmitting secondary cell information to the UE, wherein the secondary cell information includes state information of one or more secondary cells, wherein the state information indicates an activated state or a deactivated state of each of the one or more secondary cells.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method performed by a distributed unit (DU) of a source base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, from a terminal, an layer 1 (L1) measurement report including information on L1 measurement results for candidate secondary cells (SCells); and transmitting, to the terminal, a message for cell switch including SCell information, wherein the SCell information includes information indicating an activated state or a deactivated state for each of at least one SCell among the candidate SCells.
