Samsung patents display method to adjust transistor voltage for better images
Samsung has been granted a patent for a display driver circuit that adjusts the voltage of transistors in an OLED screen. The method involves resetting the transistor's gate and applying specific voltages between frames to ensure the light-emitting elements receive the correct current for the next image.
In the filing’s own words
An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display driver circuitry, and a display panel including a plurality of sub-pixels, wherein each of the sub-pixels includes a light emitting element, and a driving transistor configured to obtain a current provided to the light emitting element, and wherein the display driver circuitry is configured to display a first image on the display panel, before the light emitting element is emit for displaying a second image subsequent to the first image, initialize a gate electrode of the driving transistor, and apply a bias voltage to a source electrode of the driving transistor that the gate electrode is initialized, after the bias voltage is applied to the source electrode, initialize the gate electrode again, apply a data voltage to the gate electrode initialized again, and cause the light emitting element to emit light for the displaying of the second image by providing a current according to the data voltage to the light emitting element.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. An electronic device comprising: display driver circuitry; and a display panel including a plurality of sub-pixels, wherein each of the sub-pixels includes: a light emitting element, and a driving transistor configured to obtain a current provided to the light emitting element, and wherein the display driver circuitry is configured to: display a first image on the display panel, before the light emitting element emits for displaying of a second image subsequent to the first image, initialize a gate electrode of the driving transistor, and apply a bias voltage to a source electrode of the driving transistor that the gate electrode is initialized, after the bias voltage is applied to the source electrode, initialize the gate electrode again, apply a data voltage to the gate electrode initialized again, and cause the light emitting element to emit light for the displaying of the second image by providing a current according to the data voltage to the light emitting element.
