Samsung patents method for retransmitting data in 5G networks
This patent describes a method for managing data retransmissions in 5G wireless systems. It allows a device and a base station to agree on how to identify specific data packets using a shared ID, ensuring reliable data transfer.
In the filing’s own words
The present disclosure relates to a communication technique, which is a convergence of IoT technology and 5G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rate beyond 4G system, and a system for same. The present invention can be applied to smart services (e.g. smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, health care, digital education, retail businesses, security-and safety-related services, etc.) on the basis of 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. The present disclosure discloses a method and apparatus for retransmitting synchronous and asynchronous data, and a method and apparatus for recognizing and sharing a HARQ process ID between a terminal and a base station.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, from a base station, a first control message including downlink control information (DCI) which schedules data transmission, the DCI including an indicator indicating a determination rule of a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process ID and a HARQ process ID field; determining the HARQ process ID based on the indicator and the HARQ process ID field; determining a HARQ process corresponding to the data transmission, based on a combination of the HARQ process ID and a slot index of a slot in which the first control message is received; and transmitting, to the base station, a response to the data transmission according to the HARQ process, wherein in case that the indicator is set to a first value, the HARQ process ID is determined as a value in the HARQ process ID field, wherein in case that the indicator is set to a second value, the HARQ process ID is determined based on the slot index and the value in the HARQ process ID field, and wherein the HARQ process is determined, among two or more different HARQ processes corresponding to the same HARQ process ID based on the slot index.
