Samsung patents display that dims based on movement in video
This patent describes an electronic device that checks its battery level and analyzes the movement of objects within a video feed. If the battery is low, the device lowers the screen brightness based on how fast and in what direction the objects in the image are moving.
In the filing’s own words
The present disclosure includes an electronic device for displaying an image and an operating method of the electronic device. The electronic device includes: an image display unit comprising circuitry configured to display an image, a memory in which at least one instruction is stored, and at least one processor, comprising processing circuitry, individually and/or collectively, configured to execute the at least one instruction stored in the memory, and to: obtain an input image through an input/output interface, detect an optical flow indicating movement of an object included in the input image, based on a power control signal being obtained by executing a battery check module stored in the memory, and operate in a low-power mode in which a luminance of an image generated based on the input image is adjusted to be lowered, based on a magnitude and a direction of the detected optical flow.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. An electronic device for displaying an image, the electronic device comprising: an image display unit comprising circuitry configured to display an image; a memory in which at least one instruction is stored; and at least one processor, comprising processing circuitry, individually and/or collectively, configured to execute the at least one instruction stored in the memory and to cause the electronic device to: obtain an input image through an input/output interface, detect an optical flow indicating movement of an object included in the input image, based on a power control signal being obtained by executing a battery check module stored in the memory, and operate in a low-power mode in which a luminance of an image generated based on the input image is adjusted to be lowered, based on a magnitude and a direction of the detected optical flow.
