Samsung patents method for reporting wireless channel data
Samsung has been granted a patent for a method that helps mobile devices report how their wireless connection is performing to a base station. The system uses specific mathematical vectors to describe the channel state, adjusting the report based on the length of these vectors to ensure accurate data transmission.
In the filing’s own words
Methods and apparatuses for channel state information (CSI) reporting in a wireless communication system. A method for operating a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a configuration about a CSI report, the configuration including a value of N 4 and a codebookType. The method further includes, based on the configuration: determining, based on a condition, whether the CSI report includes an indicator indicating Q time domain (TD)/Doppler domain (DD) basis vectors and when the condition is met, determining the Q TD/DD basis vectors, each of length N 4. The method further includes transmitting the CSI report including the indicator indicating the Q TD/DD basis vectors when the condition is met.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A user equipment (UE) comprising: a processor; and a transceiver operably coupled to the processor, the transceiver configured to: receive, from a base station, first information configuring a codebook for a channel state information (CSI) report, wherein the first information includes second information on a length of a doppler-domain (DD) basis vector (N 4); and transmit, to the base station, the CSI report, wherein, when the length of the DD basis vector (N 4) is one of 2, 4 or 8, the CSI report includes information on the DD basis vector (N 4) and a number of DD basis vectors (Q) for the CSI report is 2.
