Samsung patents display tech that scans LED lines in random order
Samsung has been granted a patent for a display system that uses a controller to send varying clock signals to a scanning chip. Instead of lighting up rows of LEDs in a fixed, predictable sequence, the system scans them in a non-sequential order based on these changing signals.
In the filing’s own words
A display device including a display including a plurality of light emitting devices (LEDs) arranged in a plurality of lines; a scan integrated circuit (IC) configured to scan the plurality of lines in which the plurality of LEDs are arranged; and a controller is configured to apply, to the scan IC, a control signal including a plurality of clock intervals having different frequencies, wherein, based on the control signal received from the controller, the scan IC non-sequentially scans the plurality of lines.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A display device comprising: a display including a plurality of light emitting devices (LEDs) arranged in a plurality of lines; a scan integrated circuit (IC) configured to scan the plurality of lines in which the plurality of LEDs are arranged; and a controller configured to apply, to the scan IC, a control signal including a plurality of clock intervals having different frequencies, wherein, based on a frequency of each respective clock interval of the plurality of clock intervals included in the control signal received from the controller, the scan IC non-sequentially scans the plurality of lines, and the frequencies are determined differently depending on whether at least one of the plurality of LEDs can be turned on according to a predetermined number of times that an applied clock signal is input to the scan IC during each respective clock interval of the plurality of clock intervals.
