Samsung patents method for cell towers to avoid signal clashes
This patent describes a way for two cell towers to share the same radio frequencies without interfering with each other. The towers exchange messages to track where data transmission fails, then adjust their scheduling to avoid using those specific time or frequency slots.
In the filing’s own words
Disclosed are a method and a base station, the method allowing a first base station and a second base station to exchange a resource sharing message, scheduling resources on the basis of the resource sharing message, and controlling the collision of sharing resources on the basis of a collision control message.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method performed by a first base station for controlling collision of shared resources in a communication system, the method comprising: receiving, from a second base station, a resource sharing message including information on the shared resources, wherein a priority of the second base station is higher than a priority of the first base station, for using the shared resources; performing a communication with a first terminal using the shared resources; receiving, from the second base station, a collision control message including information on a failure resource where data transmission between a second terminal and the second base station has failed, the information on the failure resource including a location of the failure resource in a time domain or a frequency domain; identifying a collision rate based on a number of collision resources within a predetermined resource region, using the information on the failure resource; and performing scheduling for the first terminal to restrict usage of at least one resource among the shared resources, in case that the collision rate is higher than a predetermined collision rate, wherein the at least one resource is determined based on a size of the predetermined resource region, the number of collision resources, and the predetermined collision rate.
