What “tested on your device” means for this tool
When you open this page, your browser downloads the test itself, the same way any web page loads. From then on, your camera picture and microphone sound stay inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is recorded unless you press Record, and even then the clip stays on your device. Nothing is ever sent to this website's server or to anyone else.
Permission: your browser asks before turning the camera or microphone on. They switch off when you press Stop or close the page.
What the server does see: like any website, the server that delivers this page sees basic connection details such as your IP address and which page was requested. Never your camera or microphone.
Visit counting: this site counts visits with privacy-friendly analytics. No cookies, no ads, no tracking across other sites, and your IP address is not stored. It records which page you opened, your country, your device type, how long you stayed and when you download a result, never the file or anything in it.

Camera or mic not working?
- Blocked permission: click the camera or lock icon next to the web address and allow the camera and microphone, then reload.
- In use by another app: close Zoom, Teams, Skype, OBS or other tabs that might be using it.
- Wrong device: pick another camera or microphone from the list after the test starts.
- Privacy switch: some laptops have a camera cover, a function key (F8/F10) or a system privacy setting (Windows: Settings → Privacy → Camera / Microphone; Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security).
- Too quiet: raise the input volume in your computer's sound settings, or move closer.
How to use the Mic & Webcam Test
- Press Test camera and allow the camera when asked.
- Press Test microphone and say something to watch the level.
- Record a 5 second clip and play it back.
- Use the speaker buttons to check left and right sound.
Questions
Why can't the page see my camera or microphone?
Usually permission is blocked or another app is using it. Allow the camera and microphone for this site (icon next to the address), close Zoom, Teams or other tabs, then try again.
Is my video or voice recorded?
No. The picture and sound stay on your device. The 5 second test clip is only kept in this tab so you can hear yourself, and is gone when you close it.
What resolution is my webcam?
Start the camera test: the real resolution and frame rate appear under the picture. You can also try 4K, 1080p, 720p or 480p from the list.
My microphone is too quiet. What can I do?
Move closer, raise the input volume in your computer's sound settings, and make sure the right microphone is selected in the list.
