Meritor recall: Steering
What is wrong
Meritor, Inc. (Meritor) is recalling certain P220 and P579 Pressure Assemblies, part numbers 106533 and 107801. The power steering hydraulic hose was assembled with an incorrect fitting, which may cause the hose to fail and result in a loss of power steering assist.
What could happen
Loss of power steering assist would require a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Meritor will notify the purchasers, and will inspect and replace the power steering hydraulic hose, free of charge. The recall began August 18, 2020. Owners may contact Meritor customer service at 1-866-668-7221.
