Vega recall: Equipment
What is wrong
Vega Helmet Corporation (Vega) is recalling certain motorcycle helmets, model XTS, sizes L, XL, and XXL manufactured from May 2011 through October 2012. These helmets may fail to conform to the impact attenuation requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
What could happen
By wearing a noncompliant helmet, the user may not be adequately protected in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of personal injury.
The fix
Vega will notify dealers and post public notices about the recall. Any noncompliant helmet will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began January 11, 2013. Owners may contact Vega at 1-425-656-0683.
