Sony patents chip communication method using specific reset patterns
Sony describes a system where a main controller sends a specific data pattern to a secondary chip after it powers on. This pattern tells the secondary chip when it is safe to stop its initial reset state and begin normal communication.
In the filing’s own words
Communications with reset operations are disclosed. In one example, a communication system includes a controller device that manages communication in the communication system and a target device that performs communication under the management of the controller device. The target device includes pattern interpretation that determines whether or not a target reset pattern has been received, the target reset pattern being transmitted from the controller device through a data communication line and instructing first reset release after the target device is powered on, and a reset control unit that performs control to release a reset state of the target device in a case where the target reset pattern is determined to have been received. The technology is applicable to various communications, including those under I3C specifications.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A communication system comprising: a controller device that manages communication in the communication system; and a target device that performs communication under the management of the controller device, wherein the target device includes: a pattern interpretation unit that determines whether or not a target reset pattern has been received, the target reset pattern being transmitted from the controller device through a data communication line and instructing first reset release after the target device is powered on; and a reset control unit that performs control to release a reset state of the target device in a case where the target reset pattern is determined to have been received.
