Samsung patents video processing that shrinks data before editing
Samsung has filed a patent for a method that compresses video frames into a smaller data format before processing them. The system combines these compressed frames to create a new image, then expands the result back into a standard video frame.
In the filing’s own words
A method includes obtaining, using at least one processing device of an electronic device, multiple input frames in a raw image space. The method also includes compressing, using the at least one processing device, the input frames to generate corresponding input latent feature sets in a latent space. The method further includes performing, using the at least one processing device, multi-frame processing using the input latent feature sets to generate an output latent feature set in the latent space. In addition, the method includes decompressing, using the at least one processing device, the output latent feature set to generate an output frame in a pixel space.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method comprising: obtaining, using at least one processing device of an electronic device, multiple input frames in a raw image space; compressing, using the at least one processing device, the input frames to generate corresponding input latent feature sets in a latent space; performing, using the at least one processing device, multi-frame processing using the input latent feature sets to generate an output latent feature set in the latent space; and decompressing, using the at least one processing device, the output latent feature set to generate an output frame in a pixel space.
