Google patents assistant that preloads tasks to answer faster
Google has patented a method where an automated assistant predicts what a user might ask for next and downloads the necessary data in advance. When the user actually asks for that information, the assistant uses the pre-downloaded data to respond immediately instead of waiting for a new server request.
In the filing’s own words
Implementations relate to receiving natural language input that requests an automated assistant to provide information and processing the natural language input to identify the requested information and to identify one or more predicted actions. Those implementations further cause a computing device, at which the natural language input is received, to render the requested information and the one or more predicted actions in response to the natural language input. Yet further, those implementations, in response to the user confirming a rendered predicted action, cause the automated assistant to initialize the predicted action.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method implemented by one or more processors, the method comprising: transmitting, to a third-party server device, an action advancement data request for one or more predicted actions of a user; receiving, from the third-party server device and in response to transmitting the action advancement data request, action advancement data for the one or more predicted actions of the user; caching the action advancement data; subsequent to caching the action advancement data: receiving natural language input from the user; processing the natural language input to determine that the natural language input requests an automated assistant to perform an action; identifying that the action, determined based on processing the natural language input, is one of the one or more predicted actions of the cached action advancement data; in response to identifying that the action, determined based on processing the natural language input, is one of the one or more predicted actions of the cached action advancement data: using the cached action advancement data in performing the action responsive to the request, wherein the cached action advancement data is used in performing the action responsive to the action advancement data being cached and being for the one or more predicted actions of the user.
