Google patents scroller to jump between topics in audio transcripts
Google has patented a method for organizing text generated from audio recordings. The system automatically pulls keywords from the text to create tags, which are then used to build a scroller interface. This allows users to quickly jump to specific parts of a long transcript by selecting a relevant topic tag.
In the filing’s own words
A method includes receiving, at a computing device, a transcription of an audio recording, where the transcription is divided into a plurality of text sections. The method additionally includes associating one or more tags with each text section of the plurality of text sections, where each associated tag is extracted from text of the transcription. The method also includes selecting a subset of the plurality of text sections based at least on the one or more tags associated with each text section of the plurality of text sections. The method further includes providing, for display on the computing device, a representation of the transcription and a scroller interface, where the scroller interface allows for navigation to each text section in the subset based on user navigation to a tag associated with the text section.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method comprising: receiving, at a computing device, a transcription of an audio recording; associating one or more tags with each text section of a plurality of text sections, wherein each associated tag is extracted from text of the transcription; applying duplicate filtering to the one or more tags, such that each tag displayed in a scroller interface is distinct; and providing, for display on the computing device, a representation of the transcription and the scroller interface, wherein the scroller interface allows for navigation to each text section of the plurality of text sections based on user navigation to a tag associated with the text section.
