Sony patents tool to match fluorescent dyes to cell markers
Sony describes a system that helps scientists choose the best combination of fluorescent dyes for analyzing biological samples. It matches dyes with specific brightness levels to cell markers based on how much of each marker is present, ensuring the signals can be clearly distinguished.
In the filing’s own words
A main object of the present technology is to provide a technique for automatically proposing a better combination of fluorochrome-labeled antibodies. The present technology provides an information processing apparatus including a processing unit that generates a combination list of phosphors with respect to biomolecules on the basis of expression level categories in which a plurality of biomolecules to be used for analysis of a sample is classified on the basis of expression levels in the sample, brightness categories in which a plurality of phosphors usable for the analysis of the sample is classified on the basis of brightness, and correlation information between the plurality of phosphors, in which the processing unit selects the phosphors to be allocated to the biomolecules in the combination list from phosphors belonging to a brightness category associated with an expression level category to which the biomolecules belong.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. An information processing apparatus comprising: at least one processor that: receives, from an input unit, an indication of a plurality of biomolecules to be used for analysis of a sample and respective expression levels of the plurality of biomolecules; obtains, from a database and/or from the input unit, an indication of a plurality of phosphors usable for analysis of the sample by a spectral flow cytometer and fluorescence spectra associated with the plurality of phosphors; generates expression level categories for the plurality of biomolecules based on expression levels in the sample; generates, based on the expression level categories, brightness categories for the plurality of phosphors based on brightness of the plurality of phosphors; associates the expression level categories with the brightness categories based on the expression levels and the brightness; generates, based on correlation information between the plurality of phosphors indicative of the fluorescence spectra associated with the plurality of phosphors, a combination list of phosphors to be used for the analysis of the sample by the spectral flow cytometer; allocates, based on the association between the expression level categories and the brightness categories, phosphors of the combination list to biomolecules of the plurality of biomolecules; outputs, for display by a display device, an indication of the phosphors of the combination list respectively allocated to the biomolecules of the plurality of biomolecules; receives, from the spectral flow cytometer, light intensity data of the plurality of biomolecules stained with the phosphors of the combination list which were respectively allocated; and deconvolutes the light intensity data based on the fluorescence spectra of the phosphors of the combination list.
