Sony patents system to predict sleepwalking risk from pre-sleep data
Sony describes a system that analyzes a person's physiological data collected before bed to calculate a score indicating how likely they are to sleepwalk. During the night, the system uses this score along with movement and position data to detect if a sleepwalking episode actually begins.
In the filing’s own words
An apparatus is provided for determining a somnambulism event risk level score of a user. The apparatus includes interface circuitry configured to receive physiological data of the user generated before a sleep period, and processing circuitry configured to determine a risk level score indicating a likelihood of a somnambulism event during the sleep period based on the physiological data. Another apparatus is provided for detecting the onset of a somnambulism event during a sleep period. This apparatus includes interface circuitry configured to receive movement and/or position measurements generated during the sleep period and the risk level score, and processing circuitry configured to detect the onset of a somnambulism event based on the received measurements and risk level score.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. An apparatus for determining a somnambulism event risk level score of a user, the apparatus comprising: interface circuitry configured to receive, before a sleep period of the user, physiological data of the user generated before the sleep period, and processing circuitry configured to determine a risk level score representing a likelihood that a somnambulism event of the user will occur during the sleep period based on the physiological data generated before the sleep period.
