Sony patents method to split vehicle-to-vehicle data for faster reception
Sony describes a communication method for devices exchanging data directly, such as cars talking to other cars. The system splits control information into two parts; if the receiver already has the first part, it only downloads the second part to save time and bandwidth.
In the filing’s own words
A communication device that performs sidelink communication with a transmission device, and includes: a control unit that performs a setting related to a configured grant on the basis of first setting information; and a reception unit that receives transmission data transmitted from the transmission device through the sidelink communication on the basis of the setting related to the configured grant.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A communication device that performs sidelink communication with a transmission device, the communication device comprising: a transceiver configured for sidelink communications; and control circuitry configured to perform a process for processing sidelink control information (SCI) related to a configured grant (CG), wherein the process comprises: determining whether a first part of the SCI is stored in the communication device to generate a determination result; transmitting the determination result to the transmission device; based on the determination result indicating that the first part of the SCI is stored in the communication device, performing a first resource allocation process that includes: receiving a second part of the SCI, without the first part of the SCI, from the transmission device; performing a first resource allocation process for the sidelink communications based on the stored first part of the SCI and the received second part of the SCI; and performing the sidelink communications to receive transmission data from the transmission device based on the first resource allocation process, or based on the determination result indicating that the first part of the SCI is not stored in the communication device, performing a second resource allocation process that includes: receiving the first and second parts of the SCI from the transmission device: performing a second resource allocation process for the sidelink communications based on the received first and second parts of the SCI; and performing the sidelink communications to receive the transmission data from the transmission device based on the second resource allocation process.
