Google patents delay alerts for XR wireless networks
This filing describes a method where a user device monitors how long data waits in its buffer before being sent to the network. If the wait time hits a specific limit, the device sends a "delay status report" to the network. The network then uses this information to adjust resources and reduce lag for extended reality applications.
In the filing’s own words
Methods and systems are disclosed herein for transmitting a delay status report (DSR) between a user equipment (UE) device ( 105) and a network entity ( 112), for optimizing resource allocation. For example, a UE device receives a message from a network entity configuring the UE device with one or more channels and delay threshold(s) associated therewith. The UE device monitors a first data arriving in the uplink buffer for one or more channels configured by the message. When the UE device determines that a delay of the first data in the uplink buffer for the one or more channels has reached at least one of the delay thresholds, the UE device generates a DSR. The UE device transmits the DSR to the network entity when a triggering condition associated with the DSR is satisfied. The network entity may then reallocate resources to reduce the data delay status in the UE device.
