Sony patents system letting one person control many robots via fast simulation
Sony describes a method where an operator sends commands to a digital simulation of multiple robots moving faster than real time. The system shows the predicted results to the operator and then sends the recorded instructions to the actual physical robots.
In the filing’s own words
A method for controlling a plurality of robots to enable one operator to control the plurality of robots is provided. A method for controlling a plurality of robots according to the present disclosure includes: a step of receiving an operation command for the plurality of robots from an operator; a step of using a plurality of robot models and an environment model corresponding the plurality of robots, causing the plurality of robot models to operate in the environment model at a higher speed than actual time on the basis of the operation command, and acquiring a predicted observation value obtained as a result; a step of displaying the predicted observation value toward the operator; a step of accumulating task information including the operation command and the predicted observation value; and a step of transmitting the accumulated task information to the plurality of robots.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method for controlling a plurality of robots, the method comprising: a step of receiving an operation command for the plurality of robots from an operator; a step of using a plurality of robot models and an environment model corresponding the plurality of robots, causing the plurality of robot models to operate in the environment model at a higher speed than actual time on a basis of the operation command, and acquiring a predicted observation value obtained as a result; a step of displaying the predicted observation value toward the operator; a step of accumulating task information including the operation command and the predicted observation value; and a step of transmitting the accumulated task information to the plurality of robots.
