Google patents auto-creating accounts when you interact with content
This filing describes a system that automatically creates a user account when a person interacts with content from a service they do not already have an account with. It uses a generated cryptographic key to link the user's device to the service provider's database without requiring manual sign-up steps.
In the filing’s own words
Identifier dependent operation processing of packet based data communication is provided. A natural language processor component can parse an input audio signal to identify a request and a trigger keyword. A content selector component can select, based on the request or trigger keyword, a content item. A link generation component can determine whether the client computing device has an account or a record in a database associated with the service provider device. In the absence of the record or account, the link generation device generates and sends a virtual identifier to the service provider device with instructions to generate an account in the database using the virtual identifier. Once the account is created, the service provider device can communicate with the client computing device.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method comprising: receiving an indication of an interaction with a content item rendered by a first computing system, the content item associated with a second computing system; generating, responsive to determining an absence of an identifier linking the first computing system and the second computing system corresponding to the content item, a cryptographic key for creation of an account associated with the first computing system, wherein the absence of the identifier linking the first computing system and the second computing system corresponding to the content item corresponds to an absence of the account with the second computing system, and wherein the cryptographic key for creation of the account is generated responsive to determining the absence; and initiating a communication session with the second computing system based on the cryptographic key.
