Google patents system for devices to request only specific media data
Google describes a method where one device asks another to send only specific types of media information, rather than all available data. The receiving device generates messages for all data fields but filters them to send only the subset the first device requested.
In the filing’s own words
A first computing device is configured to receive an indication of subscription request to at least one data of a plurality of data fields of a media bridging protocol from a second computing device. The first computing device receives the indication of subscription request as specifying one or more types of messages that correspond to at least one of the plurality of data fields and that are to be sent via the bridging protocol to the second computing device. The first computing device is further configured to generate messages for the plurality of data fields and determine a subset of the generated messages that are associated with the subscribed data fields to be provided to the second computing device. The first computing device is further configured to provide the subset of messages to the second computing device via the bridging protocol.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A method, comprising: receiving, by a first computing device, an indication of a subscription request to at least one data field of a plurality of data fields of a bridging protocol, wherein the indication is received from a second computing device and wherein the subscription request specifies one or more types of messages that correspond to the at least one data field and that are to be sent via the bridging protocol; generating, by the first computing device, one or more messages for at least one of the plurality of data fields; determining, by the first computing device, a subset of messages from the one or more messages to provide to the second computing device, wherein each message from the subset of messages is associated with the subscribed at least one data field; and providing, by the first computing device, the subset of messages to the second computing device via the bridging protocol.
