Samsung patents device that shows virtual history when you reach a real-world spot
Samsung describes an electronic device that uses sensors to detect when a user arrives at a specific physical location linked to a virtual space. Once detected, the device sends a signal to an external server to retrieve and display the user's past activity history for that area on the screen.
In the filing’s own words
A processor is configured to identify a specified event based on data output from one or more sensors. The processor is configured to, in response to identifying occurrence of the specified event, transmit, to an external electronic device connected via a communication circuit, a first signal requesting information associated with both the specified event and a virtual space provided by the external electronic device. The processor is configured to provide, by controlling the display based on receiving a second signal corresponding to the first signal from the external electronic device, information included in the second signal in a state that is executable by a second application different from the first application for displaying the virtual space.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. An electronic device, comprising: a communication circuit; one or more sensors; a display; and at least one processor comprising processing circuitry; and memory comprising one or more storage media storing instructions to, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the electronic device to: identify, via the one or more sensors, whether the electronic device is positioned at a place corresponding to a region of interest (ROI) of a user of the electronic device in a physical environment, the ROI being defined in a virtual environment; based on the electronic device being identified as positioned at the place in the physical environment via the one or more sensors, transmit, via the communication circuit, to an external electronic device providing a service associated with the virtual environment, a first signal indicating that the electronic device is positioned at the place in the physical environment; receive, via the communication circuit, a second signal transmitted from the external electronic device in response to the first signal; and based on the second signal, display, via the display, information regarding past activity history that was performed in the virtual environment with respect to the ROI.
