Meta patents VR interface that lets users fix wrong predictions
Meta has patented a system for head-mounted devices that shows users a recommendation based on their activity and other people's history. If the system is not very confident in its guess, it displays buttons that let the user ask for a new recommendation or change the current one.
In the filing’s own words
The present disclosure relates to techniques for using interface mechanisms to recover from inaccurate predictions. One example method includes obtaining input data including user activity data and determining a recommendation for a user. The recommendation is based on the input data and historical activity data of a plurality of users. The method includes generating a user interface (UI) including selectable UI elements. In accordance with a determination that the recommendation satisfies a first confidence threshold, the selectable UI elements includes a first set of selectable UI elements. Alternatively, in accordance with a determination that the recommendation satisfies a second confidence threshold, the selectable UI elements includes a second set of selectable UI elements. The method further includes causing a display of the head-mounted device to present the UI and the recommendation and, at least, the first set of selectable UI elements or the second set of selectable UI elements.
What exactly they claim (claim 1)
1. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium including instructions that, when executed by a system comprising one or more processors that are in communication with a head-mounted device, cause the system to perform: obtaining, via one or more sensors, input data including user activity data; determining a recommendation for a user, wherein the recommendation is based on the input data and historical activity data of a plurality of users including the user; generating a user interface (UI) including one or more selectable UI elements, wherein: in accordance with a determination that the recommendation satisfies a first confidence threshold, a first set of selectable UI elements of the one or more selectable UI elements includes one or more of a first selectable UI element for generating a new recommendation, a second selectable UI element for modifying the recommendation, and a third selectable UI element for combination thereof, and in accordance with a determination that the recommendation satisfies a second confidence threshold, a second set of selectable UI elements of the one or more selectable UI elements includes, at least, the first selectable UI element for generating a new recommendation; causing a display of the head-mounted device to present the UI and the recommendation, wherein the UI includes at least one of the first set of selectable UI elements or the second set of selectable UI elements; detecting a user input selecting one of the first selectable UI element, the second selectable UI element, or the third selectable UI element from the UI; generating, based on the user input, a response including one of a new recommendation, a modified recommendation, or a combination thereof; and causing the display of the head-mounted device to present the response via the UI.
